The Scriptures place the highest value on human life. It is sacred and of inestimable worth to God, who created it "in his own mage" (Genesis 1:26,27), who sustains it ("In whose hand is the soul of every living thing, and the breath of all mankind" Job 12:10), and who redeemed it (2 Corinthians 5:19).

   Abortion is wrong because the Bible says, "Thou shall not kill" (Deuteronomy 5:17). It is wrong because every fetus has the potential of becoming a fully developed person, ultimately accountable before God. David wrote thousands of years ago, "You saw me before I was born and scheduled each day of my life before I began to breathe. Every day was recorded in your Book" (Psalm 139:16).
